Did you know that male and female behaviour is very different when it comes to social media?

How is it different? On Facebook 62 percent of women do the bulk of sharing while YouTube os where men spend most of their time. 70 percent of Pinterest users are women and also dominate Twitter at 62 percent.

Who use more social media? Women top social media use at 71 percent compared to men at 62 percent.

Sticking with a consistent tweeting schedule on Twitter is important, this symbolizes you being active in your Twitter community.  Social media expertswould agree that spending some time each day getting up to date with current events, news, press releases, ect so that you have relevant and timely things to tweet about. I would suggest trying to tweet three times per day in order to maximize the benefits of your Twitter profile. However with this said don’t over commit if you are unable to follow thru with this, instead try tweeting once every two days, once a week  or whatever fits with your schedule and level of commitment.

Profile Optimization

Your profile on Twitter is a powerful tool to gain followers and should be used to maximize potential.  Make your profile inviting, interesting and unique as it is the first thing that potential followers see which encourages them to read further or click onto one of your links. Add a profile picture and a customized background as well as complete your full biography to make your Twitter profile complete. This will show potential followers what you have to offer to them in hope that they follow you.

Tweet Interesting Content

Engaging marketing content writing is king on Twitter. There are limitations on Twitter with 140 character words count so be creative with your message. It is important to direct your followers with a link to your content in a tweet.

Respect a Retweet

Make sure to thank any of your followers who retweet you and show appreciation in order for more potential retweets.

Website Widgets

If you have a website add a Twitter widget with a link to your profile and a Twitter feed of your recent tweets onto your website.  This not only looks socially friendly it is also for ease of use for anyone visiting your website to follow you on Twitter.

According to them Facebook and Twitter users would choose Hugh Jackman for best actor for Les Mis. For best picture for Twitter would be vampire thriller Breaking Dawn Part 2 with almost 1.3 million followers on the social media marketing network. Facebook users would also pick the Twilight movie as best picture.

The SOcial Grammys

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday was an impressive night of entertainment for both artists and fans. The Social Grammys’ infographic was created by activ8social. Using a social media analysis this social media infographic focuses on four awards, which correctly predicted two out of four artists. The results from this infographic were complied by nominees YouTube, Twitter, Facebook  and Instagram accounts to attempt who was running for the following: best new artist, song of the year,  record of the year, and album of the year.

Some artists may have a huge following on social media accounts in regards to followers, fans, likes, and views which  showcases their online influence but this does not directly translate into Grammys as members of the Recording Academy choose the winners.

98% Of Job Recruiters Used SOcial Media In 2012

In 2012 98 percent of recruiters used social media during the hiring process, which is up from 2011 at 94 percent. The perferred social media marketing network of their choice was LinkedIn at 97 percent followed by Facebook at 51 percent and Twitter at 49 percent. 38 percent of recruiters are planning to use Twitter more in 2013.

The Social Super Bowl Ad Brawl

Whispr Group, digital consulting agency said that out of 20.9 million Super Bowl- related tweets on Twitter about 30% of them were in regards to advertisements. Number 1 with 290,000  reactions on Twitter was GoDaddys ad featuring Bar Refaeli  followed by Budweiser with 164,000. The ads did not significantly impacts brands following on Twitter.
The brands which brought in the most new followers around 10,000 were Budweiser and Taco Bell. Quick thinking by Oreo with their timely blackout related tweet helped them gain 7,700 new followers.Which brand scored the highest according to volume, social ROI and new followers? Taco Bell’s “Viva Young” advertisement took the prize with their ad parody including a group of retirement-age men and women sneak out for a night of clubbing.Twitter said that 24.1 million tweets about the Super Bowl were sent out during half time and the game. 26.1 million tweets overall were tallied by Nielsen’s SocialGuide.

Key points to remember in 2003- 2004 social media spreads with the introduction of social media profiles: Facebook, Myspace,  and LinkedIn. In 2005 SEO (Search Engine Optimization) becomes a common key phrase for website developers. Two years later in 2007, Twitter was born and has not stopped growing ever since.

Facebook Blocks Vine

Facebook VS Vine Blocked

Social media giant Twitter has recently acquired video sharing app Vine, and shortly after this Facebook began blocking Vine. Vine is Twitters video application that has since been blocked by Facebook the ability to add and “find people” function to find friends on Facebook.

When trying to add Vine accounts there is a pop up that states “Vine is not authorized to make this Facebook request.”

Video sharing platforms like YouTube and iMovie share content in the same mode as Vine on Facebook however Vine is competing with Facebook’s video sharing  apps like Viddy.

In recent news, Twitter dropped Instagram’s Twitter card integration meaning that you can no longer find Twitter users within the Instagram app. In reality this should not be a surprise that Facebook cut off Vine. This move is the latest in the battle of Facebook vs. Twitter.
